Easy Worship
By An Interview with Paul Constable Considering the readership of Christian Video Magazine, I realize that I am “preaching to the choir” when I point out the advantages of using multimedia in worship. However, as I travel across the nation, I find that many churches that are just now beginning to use projection as a part of their worship service, seem to start with PowerPoint. In most cases, it is because they didn’t know there was anything else. It is always great to share with them that there are specific programs designed for a church’s unique needs in the area of multimedia worship.

“Hollywood” Productions on a “Home Depot” Budget
By Jay M. Delp Ever since the prehistoric days of media ministry (circa. 1986) the universal “mantra” has been “cheap is good; but FREE is even better.” When it comes to using today’s video and media technologies in our ministries it doesn’t take long to ring up a hefty “grand total’ at the BEST BUY check out counter eating up your entire year’s tech budget. Sometimes replacing that technology entirely with a readily-available “low-tech” substitute can be your budget-saving ticket to once again experiencing that warm & fuzzy “financial afterglow” when you realize you just saved an offering-plate-load of $’s with your “bargain basement” smarts.

Interview of CIY’s MD Neely
By Gregory Fish Here’s an interview that I conducted with MD Neely from Christ In Youth, which is based out of my old stomping grounds in Joplin, Missouri. I think I moved away from Joplin before MD moved there, but we have made an acquaintance through our mutual friends and through the networking power of the internet. CIY’s videos, like mine are available for download on SermonSpice – http://sermonspice.com/producers/profile/1680. MD offers us all some great comments for our own filmmaking endeavors. Here’s what I asked him:

Why Short Films Don’t Work in Church
By Stewart H. Redwine For most of our lives, almost every American has been part of an enormous classical conditioning experiment. We have learned how to view, appreciate, and enjoy watching TV and movies. I’m not talking about the types of programs we watch, but rather the way they are delivered to us. Whether we know it or not, we expect a television show to be 30-60 minutes in duration, with commercial breaks; and, a feature film to be somewhere between 1-3 hours in length. Like Pavlov’s famous dogs salivating at the sound of a bell whether there was food or not, once a short film starts playing in a Church service, powerful conditioned responses kick in.
